Copy Color Grades to Multiple Images Faster
You locked the look on image one, and now the rest of the set needs to match. Copying a color grade layer by layer across twenty open PSDs means tab switching, missed files, and grades that drift apart. The goal is one move that lands the same stack on every target you choose.
Why Color Grades Are Different From Plain Layers
A grade is rarely one layer. It is often a group of curves, selective color, hue and saturation, and maybe a lookup table stacked in a specific order. Copying pixels flattens that work. Copying the layer group keeps every adjustment editable in each destination file. Before you move anything, name the group clearly in the source PSD so it stays readable after it lands in ten other files.
The Slow Path: One File at a Time
Photoshop can duplicate a layer, copy it, switch to the next document, and paste. You can also drag from the Layers panel to another tab and wait for that canvas to come forward. Both methods work when you have two or three files. On a campaign with fifteen or more heroes, repeating the same paste on each tab eats minutes and makes it easy to skip a file or paste twice.
Copy One Grade Stack to Many PSDs at Once
When every target is already open, mark the files that should receive the grade. In DocManager Pro, check each destination PSD in the document panel, or use Shift-click to select a range. Select the grade layers in the source file, hold Shift before you drag, and drop onto one of the checked documents. The same stack copies to each selected file in one gesture.
DocManager Pro lets you copy layers from one open PSD to every document you select in the panel. Try DocManager Lite for thumbnail navigation, and upgrade for layer drag and drop.
Drag a Grade Onto the Right File From One List
If you are moving a grade to a single target first, a thumbnail list beats guessing which tab is which. Select the grade layers, hold Shift, and drag onto the preview of the file you mean instead of hunting truncated tab labels. On Mac you can also drag directly from the Layers panel into the document list.
The plugin supports dragging color grades, curves, and adjustment layers between open PSDs when every file is visible in one panel.
Tips for Consistent Grades Across a Set
Match canvas size and color profile across the batch before you copy grades. If one file is 8-bit and another is 16-bit, check the result after the copy. Group every grade layer before you drag so you move one unit. After the copy lands on all targets, spot-check two or three files at full size before you call the set done.
Conclusion
Copying a color grade to multiple Photoshop files does not have to mean paste on every tab. Select your targets once, drag the grade stack, and move on. For thumbnail navigation, multi-document selection, and layer drag and drop from one panel, see DocManager Pro.
